1. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: My only quibble with the extended edition of The Return of the King relates to the cut of the film itself. It remains a strong movie, but I think the added bits don’t always benefit the story. Nonetheless, they do help flesh out some moments. The Blu-ray displays absolutely stellar picture and audio as well as a long, rich and enjoyable roster of supplem

2. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Two Towers doesn’t feel as engrossing as its predecessor, but that’s almost inevitable given its spot as the middle chapter of a trilogy. It’s still an excellent movie that continues the tale well. The Blu-ray adds 44 minutes of mostly useful and entertaining material that serves to make the film even stronger than its Oscar-nominated theatrical cut.

3. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) [Blu-Ray] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Extended Edition of the film adds a half an hour of mostly useful and entertaining material that serves to make the film even stronger than its Oscar-nominated theatrical cut. The Blu-ray boasts excellent picture and audio along with a thorough, nearly exhaustive set of supplements. It’s too bad this release doesn’t feature an option to watch the the

4. I Sell The Dead (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: It seems like most horror films these days either go with hyperactive “scares” or banal boredom in the name of “subtlety” ala Paranormal Activity. I Sell the Dead reminds us that a middle ground exists. It’s a genre flick that doesn’t assault the senses with rapid cuts and visual gimmicks but also still finds the time to give us excitement and intrigue.

5. The Lord of the Rings: The Return Of The King - Platinum Series Extended Edition (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I definitely preferred the extended takes on Fellowship and Towers to their theatrical renditions, whereas that’s not the case here. Nonetheless, this shouldn’t negate the fact that the 4-disc King offers a spectacular package. I can’t praise it enough, as it presents yet another stunning release that stands as arguably the greatest DVD ever released. Di

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Whether you spring for the “Collector’s Gift Set” or just stick with the standard four-DVD version, you definitely need to pick up the Special Extended Edition of The Two Towers. It offers an amazing experience that remains gripping from start to finish. I didn’t think it was possible, but with superior picture and sound plus even more supplements, thi

8. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring [Blu-Ray] (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Fans had high expectations for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and the film seems to match them. As a neophyte to the realm, I feel the movie has some minor flaws, but overall it comes across quite well, and it offers an exciting and rich experience. The Blu-ray offers good – though slightly inconsistent picture – along with mostly ter
